How does 3 phase Decanter Centrifuge work?

How does 3 phase Decanter Centrifuge work?

Three Phase Decanter Centrifuge

Decanter 3 Phase is typically used to separate

oil, water and solids. In these designs the cake is separated

and removed as in the two-phase design.

Inlet sludge, through feed pipe, will be conducted inside bowl of decanter. Here the separation of the two liquid phases from the solid one thanks to the action of the centrifugal force.

Light liquid phase and heavy liquid one are expelled separately from bowl front part thanks to specific nozzles and level plates that can be regulated on outlet diameter, while solid phase is convoyed from the screw to outlet openings on bowl rear part, where it will be expelled.

Extra devices or baffles are required inside the bowl to separate and discharge separately the two liquids. The lighter liquid will discharge over the weirs already described in the normal way. The heavier liquid needs to decant under a reversed weir into a chamber in the hub and then can flow

over and through nozzles of adjustable height

Regulating the Levels

The levels are to be  regulated only when the liquid from processing still contains solid particles.

If, after processing, the outgoing liquid still contains solid particles, replace the water level, substituting it with one with a smaller diameter discharge hole.

The figure shows where to read the size of the diameter for oil levels. The oil level must match the corresponding water level.

If, after processing, the oil is dirty, replace the level, substituting it with one with a smaller diameter.

What is the capacity?

Relative to a two phase Decanter Centrifuge, it is about 35% of normal capacity.

Model
Capacity
DR500LH Two Phase
30-35m3/h
DR500LH Three Phase
10m3/h

Can I use a three phase Decanter Centrifuge in 2 Phases?

Yes. To use a DecanterCentrifuge in 2 phases you need only plug the holes of the centrifuge.
You will lose about 50% capacity and have a loss of overall efficiency
Model
Capacity as 2 Phase
DR500LH Two Phase
35m3/h
DR500LH Three Phase
18m3/h

We also offer a conversion kit to reduce the loss of capacity on both models, in this case the loss is 20%.
There is of course more work involved to convert the machine, so it only makes sense if switching products is not done within the same day.
